Very often, softball players think they should be doing a lot of rotation exercises like russian twists, band twists, and crunches, BUT before an athlete can rotate with power, he/she must be able to create trunk stiffness to rotate the obliques around.
So the approach is…anti-rotation before rotation. We want to shoot cannons off the ground, not out of canoes. 😂 Listen to the video to get that full explanation, ha!
My suggestions are: farmer’s carry, paloff sidestep with bands, paloff trunk rotations, paloff hip rotations–full explanation of how to do these correctly and efficiently in the youtube video below.
